A – Z Of Porn – ‘M’

So you can learn about porn and not have to watch it. Ms are for mature, massage and masturbation porn.

MILF/DILF/GILF/Cougar/Mature

These categories all refer to performers that are older. M/D/GILF is someone’s ‘Mum / Dad / Gran I’d Like To F*ck.’ Cougar is an older woman who is sexually confident and is particularly enthusiastic about younger people. ‘Mature’ here refers to age rather than someone who is very sensible.

Normally there is only one person who is the ‘older’ one in porn. So it might feature a younger person who gets *very* excited about doing it with an older person – rather than a mature couple enjoying each other.

In pornglish ‘older’ doesn’t just mean someone who is eligible for a free bus pass but also people in their late 20s or early 30s – particularly those who have been in the ‘business’ for a while. (Here’s an interesting article about this by Aurora Snow).

Some of these ‘older’ porn performers are very popular. A popular straight porn website (no I’m not telling you which) has two women in their 40s in the top 20 popular models and Nina Hartley is still a very popular performer and she’s in her 60s. Older guys are also popular in ‘straight’ and ‘gay porn’ too. We live in a society which says that older people can’t be sexy or enjoy having sex – so it’s a mini ‘yay’ for porn showing people that are a *bit* older.

However by making a thing about a performers age rather than how attractive they are/good at performing they are it kinda separates ‘mature’ performers as people that are somehow different from everyone else.

Massage

Kinda self explanatory really, but this category features massages. Some of the videos are story lines about people going off to get a non-erotic massage which then ‘turns into’ an erotic massage with a ‘happy ending’ (this is when one or both people have an orgasm/ejaculate).

Like with landscape gardeners, cable guys, pizza delivery people, plumbers, teachers and secretaries in porn this is another stereotype of the kind of jobs where people think there’s a lot of sex involved. That must be pretty annoying for people who have those jobs. Remember these are performers playing the role of someone with that job (so they are actually consenting).

Other massage porn actually features erotic massages (rather than story lines about regular massages that become erotic). This can be about genital massage, or full body massage or people massaging their bodies together with oil and stuff. Usually there are candles and terrible music in the background.

So yay, sometimes porn does show porn that isn’t just about entry sex (eg penis in vagina sex).

Masturbation

Absolutely no prizes for guessing that this features people masturbating. Sometimes it might be people masturbating together but the most common wanking videos are solo. There are lots of videos of all genders masturbating on porn sites – sometimes they are professionally made but often they are home made on a laptop or with their phones.

As I talk about in my guide to masturbation people masturbate in different ways and porn masturbation videos show this. Some feature lube, fingers, hand(s), toys (sex toys obvs), penis, clitoris, lips, vagina, balls, anus, nipples, pain, ejaculation, talking, groaning etc etc. They aren’t really instructional videos on how you should do it but they might give people re-assurance that there are lots of different ways to do it and that that’s fine.

There are other websites a bit like this one who have more funding than mine so they can do more and can provide more support. There’s Scarleteen who have lots of great advice articles and also moderated message boards where you can hang out and ask questions of other folk like you.
