A – Z of Porn ‘P’

So you can learn what’s going on in porn without you actually having to watch it. P is for POV, Pantyhose, Public and Panties porn.

POV

POV stands for Point Of View. Sadly this is not a porny edition of Question Time where porn stars give their opinions about immigration (which is good actually). It’s is where the camera is held from the ‘point of view’ of one of the people having sex. This person usually has a penis. These are popular with people who also have penises because they can imagine that it’s their penis that those things are happening to. They’re usually less popular for people who don’t have penises. Key word here is penis. Penis.

Blowjobs are very popular with POV (I’m assuming because it’s easier to keep the camera steady) and the person giving it looks directly at the camera. There isn’t very much POV where the person holding the camera has a vagina and/or is a woman. Many women might actually like to have POV porn where they are looking at the face of a man giving them oral sex (for instance) but it’s not nearly as common as the other kind. Although as more and more women are buying porn this might change.

Panties

So this is porn that features panties. This is a UK sex education website so I’d better translate that for you. Panties means knickers. ‘Panties’ porn is porn which features knickers.

You would think that this would mean almost every porn ever made would come under this category but there’s usually something about the knickers that makes them a bit different. They might be really unusual, or very thin (with barely any gusset at all), or with a hole in the gusset (making them pointless knickers), or they might be left on during sex, or they might be used to masturbate.

Basically some people really like knickers. This is why there is knickers porn. The end.

Pantyhose

So this is porn that features pantyhose. *sighs* This is a UK sex education website so I’d better translate that for you. Pantyhose means tights. ‘Pantyhose’ porn is porn which features tights.

They might be worn for a bit, left on during sex, they might be ripped, or used to masturbate with, or ejaculated over.

Basically some people really like tights. This is why there is tights porn. The end.

Public

You’re probably already aware that if you have sex, you should probably do it in private. Passers-by can’t consent to seeing people having sex and it might offend or upset them. In the UK there are laws about it (though they are a little bit confusing tbh). As I say over at my post about Sex and the Law:

“There are a number of laws to do with having sex outside. It can be illegal to show male or female genitals in public. It is illegal to have sex in a public toilet (even in a locked cubicle). It is also an offence to have sex in public if it is near a children’s play area.

People having sex outside can also be guilty of ‘outraging public decency’, unless they could have expected a reasonable degree of privacy and did what they could to prevent being seen.”

However it’s a fantasy for many people to have sex with other people watching, or where there might be a chance of other people watching. That’s what the porn in this category is: it’s either inside but with people around (in hotel rooms, saunas or nightclubs), or in cars/trains/buses/planes, or on cars in car parks with lots of people around (known as dogging), or in public toilets, or at the beach, or on a tennis court … you get the general idea yeah?

As with all porn, sometimes it’s amateur porn and sometimes it’s ‘amateur porn.’ Sometimes it’s real and sometimes it’s edited to look more real than it is. Sometimes passers-by might know what’s happening beforehand and sometimes not.

There are other websites a bit like this one who have more funding than mine so they can do more and can provide more support. There’s Scarleteen who have lots of great advice articles and also moderated message boards where you can hang out and ask questions of other folk like you. Brook also offer sexual health services in person in the UK and online. The Mix are a UK online youth support service. For straight up advice I really like Go Ask Alice from Columbia University. Remember if you are in the UK and want some support there are loads of services near you, lots of them have their own websites.
